Nuna Mixx Next – Is it the best compact stroller?

The Nuna Mixx was an instant hit when it was released in 2019 and has become a cult classic over the last few years. Parents love its compact size, sleek & stylish look, and amazing features like infant-ready flat recline, huge basket, generous canopy, and large all-terrain wheels. Nuna recently made a few improvements and introduced the improved Nuna Mixx Next.

With these new improvements, many people are saying the Nuna Mixx Next is now the best compact stroller on the market. Here’s what we really think!

New & Noteworthy Features

SMOOTHER RIDE

Nuna Mixx Next offers an even smoother ride, thanks to improved suspension and redesigned rubber wheels at the front for added maneuverability. Previously the front wheels were plastic, now all 4 of them have rubber tires and it shows – it sails across any terrain and is super easy to push one-handed.

TABLE-HEIGHT SEAT

Another feature I love about this stroller is the seat sits at table height so the stroller can be used as a high chair while eating out. Trust me, not having to unbuckle your toddler can make for a much more pleasant dining experience.

SELF-STANDING FEATURE

One of the coolest updates is the space-saving self-stand feature that you can collapse one-handed. This was one of the top complaints about the last model, and we love a brand that listens to customers’ feedback.

COMPACT FOLD

Nuna also introduced a more compact fold with the back axle folding into the frame which takes up less space and makes it easier to fit in more narrow car trunks. It is about 6″ smaller than the Nuna Mixx was.

LUXE MATERIALS

There are so many luxe accents such as leatherette trimmings on zippers, piping, and pulls that make you feel so chic pushing a stroller.

I also love all 9 of the color options;

  • Caviar- Black with Brown Leatherette Accents
  • Granite- Gray with Brown Leatherette Accents
  • Broken Arrow Frost- Gray with Pattern Accent and Black Leatherette Accents *
  • Brusthstroke Dot- Charcoal Gray with Pattern Accent and Brown Leatherette Accents *
  • Camel- Tan and Black with Brown Leatherette Accents
  • Hazelwood- Taupe with Brown Leatherette Accents
  • Lagoon- Teal with Black Leatherette Accents
  • Refined- Heather Gray with Brown Leatherette Accents**
  • Riveted- Black with Brown Leatherette Accents

MAGNE-TECH BUCKLE

Aside from looking chic, we love the innovative Magne-Tech Secure Snap, a self-guiding magnetic buckle that effortlessly draws into place and locks for fuss-free moments with a baby.

CANOPY COVERAGE

The hood is one of my favorite features! It is made of great quality fabric and feels lovely, while also being robust enough to stand up to windy conditions. It has UPF 50+ which gives me real peace of mind.

The hood is a great size with two large panels and a pop-out sun visor that can be tucked away if not needed. Under its cover, one of the panels is mesh, and to make the canopy even bigger you can expose a third zipped-in panel that features a mesh window on both sides.

There is also a mesh peek-a-boo window on top of the canopy, so the air circulation should be great even on the hottest summer day.

CAR SEAT COMPATIBILITY

While this feature hasn’t changed, both the Nuna Mixx and the Nuna Mixx Next are compatible with all Pipa car seats, it is one of the biggest highlights of this compact stroller. You can buy the whole Nuna Mixx Next Travel System from Pottery Barn Kids.

The travel system includes the Pipa RX car seat, the Nuna Mixx Next Stroller, and a ring adapter that makes it easy to get the car seat on and off the base with one click.

4 MODES TO MATCH ANY STAGE YOU ARE IN

While this stroller is certainly an investment, the fact that it has 4 modes and can be used from birth to 50 lbs means you will get plenty of use out of it.

You can pair it with any Pipa car seat or set it up in the Nuna Mixx Next Bassinet mode for newborns. As your baby gets older, there is also the option to set the stroller up with a parent-facing seat or a forward-facing seat.

WOULD WE RECOMMEND IT?

The Nuna Mixx Next truly is the perfect all-rounder with high-quality touches and the smoothest ride. It beats many more established and premium brands with its features, functionality, and ease of use.

It’s not meant to be for your forever stroller, but it can be used from birth, which is a huge plus. You might find that the toddler seat is not as generous for toddlers as they grow older due to its compact frame. It’s meant to be compact enough to make you feel as though your child has enough security in the stroller without the stroller itself feeling bulky to you.

The luxe features come with a high price tag of around $800, but if these features and compact size are important to you, this is the best compact stroller out there.
