Under a new policy, women soldiers of all ranks will be entitled to 60 days of maternity leave, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh informed the Parliament on Friday. So far, the maternity leave was applicable to women officers only. From now on, all women soldiers will also be eligible for maternity leave.
Addressing the Rajya Sabha, Singh said the new policy was approved by the government on Thursday and it will come into effect from March 8, 2023, which is celebrated as International Women’s Day.
